About TUE

Some athletes may have illnesses or medical conditions that require them to take medication or undergo specific medical procedures.

If this medicine which is taken by the athlete is in the prohibited list of WADA, TUE may give that athlete authorization to use this particular substance by way of exemption and only for therapeutic purposes, while competing, without invoking anti doping rule violation.

The applications are assessed by the TUE committee which consists of a specialized team of doctors and scientists. The exemptions which are granted are valid only for competitions that are held at the national level or for Out of Competition Testing.
